Magical Realism

In ‘The Book Thief’ Markus Zusak uses Magical realism as a genre to expose an idea that the reader may not have apprehended by altering the reality of the book. Markus Zusak does this by adding into the book imaginary places or people without notice of the readers to show the persuasiveness of words. By doing so shows how words can be used in a inhuman way by herding people into a idea that they may or may not believe in with two sides of the story. ” It’s pathetic -how a man can stand by and do nothing as a whole nation cleans out the garbage and make itself great again” Hitler used words to gain his own political power and spread propaganda throughout Germany and is shown in this quote above by Hanns Huberman son.
